![]() It takes 10-15 minutes for the oil to get good and warm, but it takes a lot less for the cylinder head to get stinking hot and in need of airflow. The thing is, these things warm up very unevenly when left at idle. Having to keep a bit of throttle on to keep it from stalling at idle is normal on a cold engine. Just start it and ride, being gentle on the throttle for the first 10 minutes or so. Seriously though, don't do that thing where you let it idle for 10 minutes to warm it up, especially on an air cooled engine!
